Pinehaven devlog #1: Hello, World!
Meet Noodlefish, the solo developer behind Pinehaven Studio: pixel artist, game dev and cybersecurity worker, writing to you from the remote woods of Canada.
Hi, I’m Jonathan, aka Noodlefish, the solo developer behind Pinehaven and the creator of Pinehaven Studio. Welcome to the very first devlog!
Who I am
I live in the remote woods of Canada, surrounded by pines, lakes and rivers. It’s the kind of place where you learn quickly that the seasons set the rules, and where a warm house and a good woodpile mean everything. Unsurprisingly, that’s exactly where the idea for Pinehaven came from.
I’m new to both pixel art and game development. During the day I work in cybersecurity (application security), and at night I code and build worlds, one pixel at a time. When I’m not at the keyboard, you’ll probably find me on my motorcycle or hanging out with my girlfriend and our cats.
What Pinehaven is
Pinehaven is a cozy pixel-art adventure about settling in the forest at the end of summer and becoming self-reliant before winter hits: foraging, crafting, building your cabin and learning to read the woods.
Right now, Pinehaven is a concept in Godot. My goal is to turn it into a fully playable demo before the end of 2027, and I’ll be sharing the whole journey here, from the first sketches and pixel art to prototypes and playtests. One year to create a demo is a really tight schedule, but I guess I work best under pressure. Let’s see where this lands.
What’s next
I’m really looking forward to starting this new adventure, and I’d love for you to come along. Follow the devlog for updates, and come say hi on Discord.
See you soon,
Jonathan
